Our beta shop. It's a sort of archive where to buy Sailfish OS-ready devices.
A handy tablet, with a good choice of materials, a “retina-like” display and a customized Sailfish OS. The only disappointment for the fans is that they could not buy it!
The Jolla Tablet is the first and only produced by Jolla. The startup took care of both the software and hardware aspect. It’s a tablet with a display of 7.8 inches and “retina-like-resolution” (over 300dpi), offers 2 GB of RAM and a Quad-core 1.8 GHz processor.
The dimensions are 203 x 137 x 8.3 mm in size and technical features put it in competition with the mini iPad 4, a device that exceeds on some specifications.
The design for the tablet Jolla departed, announced by Dillon as “the first tablet crowdfounded” of history: it was created a campaign on Indiegogo to collect the necessary funds to cover the design and production costs.
The original Indiegogo campaign
The original collection for Tablet Jolla went very well, exceeding the objectives and raising more than US $ 2.5 million from 21.633 backers. However, there were later several problems both economics and with suppliers, which led to delays: in 2015 it was officially announced that production was stopped and only a few lucky users would receive as the ladder Jolla Tablet. It was announced a repayment plan for the backers, however without a specific date. For status updates please refer to jolla official blog.
Therefore, only a small number of units were introduced on the market, making the Jolla Tablet a mysterious and coveted object for some years.
When it seemed lost hope of being able to use a tablet with Sailfish on board, a Chinese hardware manufacturer decided to try to produce a similar tablet called Youyota. With little luck is also entrusted to a crowdfunding campaign on the same platform as the first, ill-fated campaign.
The second campaign: Youyota tablet
In similar fashion to the first, although the campaign Youyota campaign went well, picking up $ 160.311 USD from 675 backers. The goal passed, came to 250%. Lower numbers from the first season, but the market there.
Unfortunately, after a few months late and some terse communications entrusted to the campaign page (Updates Tab), in the course of 2018 it became clear that even the Youyota project was stalled. The last message is January 2018 and speaks of the days of the Chinese New Year ? as a possible reason for delay…
The section devoted to the Tablet Jolla site has been cleared, as if to erase a bad accident.
Here here an excerpt from the 2015 period, in its final version. (Thanks to webarchive.org).

As discovered later thanks to Youyota and other Internet sources, the tablet design is not completely “design in Finland”, as stated in the dedicated section of the site (see archive above).
More precisely, this is a ‘personalization’ of the design made by Jolla.
The basis for the Jolla Tablet is that the x86 Aigo , a tablet Android Chinese manufacturing that can be considered the poor sister of the Tablet Jolla. Just like the Intex Aquafish with Jolla C.
The two models share many of the components and automotive metaphor we can say that this is the same platform: then one becomes a Golf, the other a Seat Ibiza ?
There are minor differences in the flash memory capacity (32GB vs. 16GB) in the color of the body and the display, slightly less bright, but the Sailfish OS experience for tablet seems to you the same.
In early of October we are procuring a first exemplary of Aigo on which try a Sailfish installation, as well as some lazy aesthetic customisation!
